HOW TO PLAY PEAR SHAPED!
Be the first player to get rid of all your cards by matching them with the pile in the middle. Watch out for the pear, if it stops rocking from side to side make sure to shout “PEAR SHAPED!”
AIM
Be the first player to get rid of all of your cards by matching pairs of cards into the play pile the fastest!
SETUP
The cards are in the pear! Take then out and place the pear in the centre of the table where everyone can reach it.
Shuffle the cards and distribute them to the players. Each player has their own hand and draw-pile. You play cards from your hand and replenish them from your draw pile.
HOW TO PLAY
To start the game one player pushes the pear to start it wobbling from side to side. For a speedier round push the pear less.
That player then takes a card from their draw pile and places it face up next to the pear to create a play pile.
Match your cards!
All player match cards from their hands to the top card in the play pile as fast as they can. There is no turn order so try to be quick!
You can match by Colour, Number or Item.
Remember to shout out your pair as you match it!
The next match MUST be different to the previous one! eg. If “Avos” was the last match then the next one must be by colour (eg. blue) or number (eg. 5). You can’t just stack Avos!
If you spot an exact match, call out “Pear Shaped!”
And grab the pear!
Be quick… anyone who notices an exact match can grab the pear first!
The person who successfully grabs the pear wins the round!
They then shuffle the cards in the play pile and divide them between the rest of the players, who add them to their draw piles.
The round winner then starts the pear timer rocking and takes a card from their draw pile to create a new play pile!
Running low on cards in your hand?
Replenish your hand from your drawpile.
Can’t play at all?
Swap one card from your draw pile and hand.
An Exact Match?
If the pear stops rocking at any time during play, all players point at the pear and stand up, wobbling from side to side. “Doing the Shakes-Pear”
The player that is last to point at the pear and wiggle collects all of the cards in the play pile.
Don’t be too keen - if you pint at the pear before it stops moving completely, you lose and collect al the cards from the play pile.
Winner!
Once a player gets rid of all the card from their hand and draw pile they must grab the pear before anyone else notices* and “Do the Shakes-Pear” - rocking from side to side in triumph!
*If another player grabs the pear first they shuffle the cards in the play pile and then divide it between the rest of the players. Play continues.
